MARSHALL family in Spain ~ La familia MARSHALL en España

My great-grandfather, Arthur MARSHALL, was a mining engineer and he worked in the mines of the Huelva province, Spain. He lived with his wife in Valverde del Camino. They had five children, two of whom were born in Spain. While living in Valverde, the girls were educated in the local convent. The family spent their holidays in Punta Umbria, a beach resort. When the family returned to England in the 1920s, the children were fluent in Spanish but could speak little English. 

Mi bisabuelo, Artúro MARSHALL, fue ingeniero en una explotación minera de la provincia de Huelva en España. Residío con su esposa en Valverde del Camino, lugar donde educaban a las chichas en el convento local. Tuvieron cinco hijos, dos de ellos nacidos en España. Mientras que vivían en Valverde, educaban a las muchachas en el convento local. La familia pasaba sus vacaciones en Punta Umbría, un enclave de la playa. Cuándo regresaron a Inglaterra en los años 20, los niños hablaban español con fluidez y el inglés, por el contrario, con cierta dificultad.
